The important bit about “The Role”…

As part of our legal team, you will be required to cover a broad spectrum of property legal issues. You will deal with and advise on property management issues and conduct non contentious work for the property portfolio. This is a busy role and you will be responsible for a large number of matters at any one time, liaising closely with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

You will:

  • Prepare/amend legal documents and conduct property transactions with guidance/supervision
  • Undertake post-completion tasks including SDLT returns and Land Registry applications
  • Support the Head of Department to ensure that the priorities of the department are met.
  • Assist in general office administration when necessary
  • Draft and send correspondence by email and answer internal telephone calls
  • Ensure that all internal methods, systems, policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Manage own work allocation, productivity and quality of work with minimal supervision

The super important bit “About You”…

You should be excited by retail and the fast-paced ever-changing challenges it brings! You will be self motivated with the ability to organise workload in a high pressure environment to ensure that deadlines are met. You will have strong organisational skills with high attention to detail, delivering work on time and to a high standard whilst adhering to Company policies and procedures.

Problem solving is a key part of this role so you should be able to demonstrate sound judgement and good decision making skills to identify the best course of action should any issues arise. You will look for new solutions in addition to tried and tested ones and know when to seek guidance from others before taking action.

You should also possess good people skills and be confident in building and maintaining working relationships with others and operate effectively as part of a team. You will be approachable and willing to help colleagues when needed.

So...what qualifications/experience do you need?

  • Law Degree or GDL/CPE
  • Practical experience within a law firm or legal office environment
  • Technical/theoretical knowledge of case law and relevant statutory provisions in relation to property law
  • Experience of negotiating and concluding lease renewals, licences and other basic landlord and tenant documentation
  • Demonstrate a commitment to own personal development
