We're thrilled to introduce a brand-new role that will ignite the future of our financial operations: Head of Financial Reporting and Controls!
As our Head of Financial Reporting and Controls, you'll be the master of all things finance, overseeing financial reporting, processes, and controls. With your skills and experience, you'll work side-by-side with our CFO and Head of Commercial Finance, ensuring the gears of our finance function run like a well-oiled machine.
But that's not all - get ready to inspire and empower your direct reports: the Financial Process Controller and the Financial Reporting Senior Manager. Together, you'll form an unstoppable trio, creating a high-performing and collaborative environment where magic happens!
And it doesn't end there! You'll also join forces with a team of approximately 17 other finance professionals, combining your talents to achieve excellence across our financial operations.

Your Mission
- Inspire, develop, and empower our Financial Reporting and Processing teams, through nurturing future talent, and fostering an inclusive culture of growth and success.
- Become the guardian of quality when it comes to external reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in Plc Annual reports and Accounts, statutory subsidiary accounts, tax returns, and more.
- Take the helm in the annual audit process, guiding your team to deliver flawless and timely audit outcomes, earning the title of Audit Maestro.
- Unleash your strategic mind as you review and reinforce financial controls, bringing corporate governance and discipline to the heart of our business.
- Be the mastermind of efficiency as you streamline processes and orchestrate the month-end close and daily operational finance processes, ensuring everything runs like clockwork.
- Use your expertise to heroically preserve the integrity and robustness of balance sheet figures through meticulous reconciliations and well-documented working papers.
- Join forces with the Head of Commercial Finance, achieving seamless alignment between external statutory reporting and captivating communication to analysts, shareholders, and the City.
- Become superhero of providing top-notch technical and analytical support to the CFO, the Board, and the corporate team, guiding critical decisions across the Group.
- Rise to the occasion and take the lead in finance's involvement in major projects like the Business Operating Model and ERP replacement, shaping the future of our finance function with your prowess.
- Embrace the role of Finance lead for ESG and team up with the Sustainability Manager to ensure compliance with external reporting requirements under TCFD, a noble mission for a sustainable future.
Responsibilities
- Plc Audit Process: Take centre stage as you navigate the plc audit process with finesse. Your coordination skills will ensure a show-stopping performance and a successful outcome!
- Cash Flow Management: Embrace the thrill of forecasting cash flow! With your financial foresight, we'll develop rolling forecasts, strategically review supplier strategies, and optimise payment terms.
- Interim and Full Year ARA Process: It's showtime for financial reporting! Lead the process of preparing and submitting our interim and full-year ARA (Annual Report and Accounts) with a dash of compliance and regulatory brilliance!
- Annual Risk Register Review: Step into the spotlight and lead the annual risk review process with our Operational and plc Boards. Together, we'll evaluate and conquer risks, ensuring a rock-solid foundation for success!
- Annual Delegation of Authorities Review: As the overseer of this review, you'll ensure everything aligns perfectly with our organisational needs. Get ready to make decisions that matter!
Exciting Projects to Lead Across Finance
- Stock Control Enhancement: Ensure our controls are rock-solid and perfectly aligned with our goals. Implement strategic enhancements that will keep our stock system soaring until the ultimate replacement arrives!
- Tax Controls Review: Get ready to team up with external tax specialists on a quest to uncover the hidden gems of tax controls. Together, we'll create a plan to enhance controls and processes across finance.
- Capex Policy Review: It's time to dive into the world of Capital Expenditure! Evaluate our current policy and help revolutionise our management and reporting processes.
- Expenses Process Review: Conduct a comprehensive review of our expenses process. Your proposals for change will bring a wave of efficiency and effectiveness for managing them.
Skills that will set you apart
- A recognised accounting qualification, equipped with solid knowledge of Plc reporting from practice or industry experience.
- Strong analytical and planning skills, coupled with a solid accounting and control background.
- Effectively communication of accounting and control matters to non-finance colleagues, captivating their interest in Finance.
- A detail-oriented eye, leaving no financial stone unturned.
- Champion of continuous improvements, enhancing controls, improving reporting and planning, that enable Finance to better support the business.
- Possess the personal gravitas and characteristics needed to influence change when necessary, leaving a lasting impact on financial strategies.
- Effective management skills to coach and develop the finance team into a high-performing, business-focused unit.
